The Splintered Illusion

chapter 1: Consequenses

Pa'i wiped the sweat from her forehead and exited the arena. Behind her dead silence rang louder than any sound. She had told her to stop. She told her! Her blood still boiled, but she started to slowly realise what she had done. There would be consequences. Harsh ones. Killing was "highly" discouraged, even when warranted. Yes, she would be able to avoid charges, but they would surely remove all her privileges and comforts. "Marry's Gate, here I come", she thought.

It did not take long before Aunty Rix caught up to her. "Where do you think you are going, young soul?", she she asked. "I need to clean up, Aunty", Pa'i quipped hoping she could steal a few hours before she would have to face the Mothers. "You most certainly will not", Rix said. "Elix almost died in there!". Pa'i's heart jumped at least two beats. "She survived!", she consoled for a few moments before it hit her. "Ah, fuck, she survived...".

"Is she ok?", Pa'i asked. "Yes, yes", Rix said detached. "Reya was spectating and brought her back after you left. Her body will take a few months to heal, but Elix' soul is alright." Pa'i did feel relief at that. Elix was a fucking dick, but she was glad she had not expired. "The Mothers will want to see you immediately to assess this matter", Rix said. "But, Aunty, I am covered in blood! Can I have an hour to wash and get ready?", Pa'i pleaded. "30 minutes and not a second more! If you are late, I will make sure you breed thrice!", Rix said. Pa'i winced.

Back in here rooms she quickly washed and redressed into scholarly robes. She would have to wash her blood covered clothes when she got back. If she got back. Her defence was pretty simple. The arena was pretty stacked, and there were witnesses aplenty, but the Code was pretty specific when it came to style. "When the Kill is invoked, it shall be done with precise force.". That means no "overkills". "But they all saw?", she thought, "she clearly !". [TODO: Find reason for overkill]
